Get Outside and Play!
Whether you live here year-round or you’re just in town for the weekend, you’ll soon realize that playing outside is part of our local culture.
Both Avalon and Stone Harbor are deeply rooted in fishing, surfing and boating culture. And both sides of the island feature marinas and yacht clubs. You’ll also find bait and tackle stores on the island, fill-up stations along the bay, charters and tours, and family-friendly activities for the entire family.

In the north end of the island where Avalon meets Sea Isle City, you’ll find a long stone wall and jetty that’s ideal for fishing and exploring. Along the bay side of Avalon, there’s a number of small businesses operating out of the docks for fishing charters, crabbing and boat rentals.
On the bay side in Stone Harbor near Avalon’s border, you’ll see a recreational park where people store their kayaks and boats for the season. Locals and frequent visitors tend to gather year-round along various bayside bridges, piers and jetties for fishing – particularly around Stone Harbor Boulevard’s bridge and the “Free Bridge” that connects Stone Harbor to Grassy Sound and North Wildwood.
