Permit Effective Dates
Special vehicle permits are required to be able to drive your vehicle on the Stone Harbor beaches in the off-season – and any permit issued in Stone Harbor is to be used for the purpose of FISHING on hard sand only.
Permits are effective until March 15 – with different start dates, depending on the location as follows:
• north of 122nd Street to 80th Street: Permit is valid from October 1 through March 15.
• south of 122nd Street: Permit is valid from the day after Labor Day (subject to change) until March 15.
Beach Vehicle Requirements
You’ll need to have a few things in order before you get your vehicle out on the Stone Harbor beaches.
1. Vehicle with visible permit
• Vehicle permit decal must be prominently displayed upon the rear of the vehicle.
• Vehicles are subject to spot inspections by the Stone Harbor Police Department.
2. Items needed in vehicle
You will also need to have the following items carried in your vehicle at all times:
• tow rope
• jack with a board
• inflated spare tire
• shovel
• fire extinguisher
• first aid kit
• flashlight
In addition to these items, the Borough of Stone Harbor requires that the permit, a copy of the rules, and a copy of the ordinance must be in the vehicle and available for inspection at all times.
Beach Paths for Vehicle Access
You can access the Stone Harbor beaches using any of the following vehicle beach paths (ramps):
• 85th, 96th, 102nd, 118th, and 122nd Streets
• the ramp at the 123rd Street parking lot & the beach
• the ramp in the southwest corner of the parking and turning-around-area next to the 127th Street groin (use the new access road running from the 123rd Street parking lot west of the bulkhead)
Other Rules & Restrictions
Please keep in mind the following additional rules and restrictions in Stone Harbor:
• north of 122nd Street: Vehicle access by permit is only allowed 1 hour prior to sunrise until 1 hour past sunset.
• south of 122nd Street: Vehicle access by permit is allowed at any time.
• Vehicles are prohibited from 111th through 114th Street beaches (inclusive).
• No vehicle shall operate on the beach in excess of 15 MPH.
• DOGS ARE NOT PERMITTED at the Point at any time.
Permit Fee & Payment Methods
The current fee is $60. You can pay by cash or check (made payable to “Borough of Stone Harbor”).

Applications are received from September 1 through September 30.
